If you're like me, you may have been holding out for as long as possible in regards to your Facebook business page staying the same as it has for the past few years but, alas, Meta won this battle by fault of ownership of the platform.
Last week, the remaining of my Facebook Business changes turned into Facebook Profiles, but not like a personal profile, a business profile. I wasn't sure what this was going to mean and here are some of my initial grievances:
Analytics are Different - For the past few years, I've been able to chart and graph my own analytics every Monday morning at 7:30 am. This allows me to not have to lean on the Facebook analytics regarding week-to-week results and, instead, compare between past months and even past years to know what is working and what isn't. That's now all thrown off.
Toggling Between Profiles - I no longer can jump over to a business page and interact as said page (as long as you had marked how you wanted to interact at the top). I now have to switch over to the profile of the business to ensure that I'm not commenting as my personal page in response on a page.
Finding Meta's Business Resources Has Changed - It seems that you can never get ahead with understanding Meta's organizational thought process and here we go again. It's a little convoluted to find out if the resources you used to rely on are currently gone OR if they are simply hidden in a new location.
Now that I've aired some grievances on it, here's where my relief for the changes actually come in:
All Business Pages are the Same Again - For a long stretch, Business Pages were in a variety of different formats. This meant that when you were moving between pages, you never quite knew what to look for and, for those that only have one page to manage, made it hard to ask your peers for assistance as their pages may look different. Finally, we are all on the same clean cut page again.
Profile Feeds - One of the things I initially loved about Business Profiles when I first got on Facebook Business Pages eight years ago was that you could have your own curated feed. It made it easy to jump in for 30 minutes every day or a couple times a week to engage with our peers and fellow business pages. In the past few years, this has been more challenging because, unless you were following those communities or businesses on your personal Facebook profile, you wouldn't have seen them. Now we can continue to build community at a higher level as a brand!
Cleaner and Crisper Meta Organization - While it will be challenging to see what remained in the rebuild, I am excited that this new layout is more minimal and organized. This will make project efforts, ad accounts, and more easier to function through the side navigation. I also enjoy the easier to access messenger platform as well.
As you can see, there is a lot changing in the world of Meta and Facebook, but I think this cleaner option is going to be a higher level of use than those in the past.
